Psycho-Girl is an independent, feminist blog dedicated to providing an engaged, thoughtful and possibly opinionated voice in the conversations around social, political and artistic issues that affect the female-assigned and female-identified.
Psycho-girl was founded in the summer of 2015, and is in a process of development, but hugely grateful for the range of voices that have participated so far. Psycho-girl aims to grow into an interactive blog and offer a platform of expression for many diverse females. Psycho-girl’s main focus is on profiles of female “non-conformers,”with an eye on intersectionality. “Non-conformity” on this blog applies to any voice whose marginalization or exclusion threatens social, political and/or artistic wholeness, balance and justice. Psycho-girl is not for a specific age-bracket, but hopes to encourage the idea that thought, activism and expression are ageless and eternal. Psycho-girl hopes to empower social action and creative expression to female readers from 18 to 108.
On The Name
“Psycho-Girl” is typically employed for the purpose of marginalizing female expression when such expression threatens an existing conventional and privileged norm. It is generally offered as an insult to female folk who are persistent, driven, passionate, communicative and truthful. My attempt here is to re-appropriate the term, which I will henceforth take as a compliment, and I hope you will consider it the sincerest flattery if applied by me to you.
Who Am I?
My name is Sondra Fink, and I’m a psycho-girl. I talk a lot, I’m super interested in what people do and say, I’m naively hopeful, like to hash out what we’re both feeling, am obsessively curious, do think it’s all a conspiracy, and will pour a ridiculous amount of effort into something that can’t possibly pay off.
I typically blend pretty well, and from a few feet away, I probably look like your average white, married, cis-female, mid-life, pan-curious, neo-pagan mother of one. But once I get talking, relentless enthusiasm ensues. I offer you this blog, where earnestness will proceed unchecked. Thank you for reading!
